The Drukpa Mila Center in Longmont, CO is hosting a chanting retreat to celebrate Green Tara. For those unfamiliar with our retreats, we will be reciting our lineage version of the Green Tara Sadhna. Our books have English translations and transliterations to make it easy for everyone to follow along without loosing the energy of the Tibetan. This is a great opportunity to catch up on practice you missed during the last year, as well as to build a foundation for your practice in the future.
The tentative plan is to begin the retreat at 6:30 PM on Friday the 19th. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday the retreat will go from 8 AM to 6 PM with a 1 hour lunch and two 15 minute breaks. Chanting will be broken into four sections, each approximately 2 hours long. We will follow the same schedule on Tuesday but finish around 9 PM with a potluck dinner. There will be a fire ceremony the following Wednesday at a yet to be determined time and location. If we cannot find a venue then we will conduct a small fire ceremony at the center.
If you are not planning to stay at the center, you may commute from your homes. If you are driving from your home in the morning, please plan to arrive at the Center no later than 7:30 AM as we will begin the practice promptly at 8 AM. Meals and makeshift bedding accommodations are available at the center. Those coming in from out of state are welcome to stay at the center, in a hotel, or with other Sangha members who will be commuting to the retreat. If, for work related reasons, you are unable to attend the weekday sessions you are still welcome to join the retreat over the weekend. We are asking for a donation of $300 for this retreat, in the form of a check written to the Drukpa Mila Center or as labor and other donations. Please contact us if you need to make alternative arrangements.
Lastly, Karma Rinpoche will be presiding over the retreat. Please dress for the occasion. (eg business casual, clean jeans with a collared polo, etc.) Practice shawls will be available for those who do not have their own. Also please observe proper behavior around a venerable Buddhist teacher. If you are unsure what this entails, please ask a senior student at the beginning of the retreat.
Please RSVP and describe the arrangements you require so that we can prepare beds, transportation, and meals
Hope to see you soon!

Karma Rinpoche would like you to attend the wonderful Chenrezig fire ceremony. This is a very special opportunity, these ceremonies are incredibly difficult to find in the United States, especially with an open invitation. Please take this opportunity to discover more about the incredible path of Mahayana Buddhism!
This incredible ceremony will be available for your to attend on September 14th and September 24th. During the ceremony Karma Rinpoche will recite sacred Tibetan chants, inviting the host of enlightened Buddhas and spirits to join the event. We will then make offerings of fragrant spices and delicious foods, among other desirable things such as silk cloth. By making offerings to the invited assemblies, we gain an exceptional amount of good karma. This helps us avert obstacles, recover from sickness, and guide lost ones to the right place. This is also a great opportunity to meet and socialize at the potluck dinner, which will immediately follow the ceremony.
The first ceremony on Sunday, September 14th will begin at noon. The location is 9830 Niwot Rd, Niwot CO 80504. (the blue house with a brown roof) The next ceremony will be held immediately following a Green Tara retreat on the 24th of September in the evening. That location is YTBA. Plan on about 4 hours total for meet and greet, ceremony, and potluck dinner. There will also be a break during the ceremony where tea and snacks will be served. No RSVP is necessary and please feel welcome to bring friends and family.
We will not turn any one away for lack of finances, however we suggest a donation of forty dollars be given to the Rinpoche in an envelope towards the ceremony's end. We appreciate this because as a 501c3 non-profit church we cannot operate without your generosity. You may also donate by helping with setup and take down, please contact us for more information.
Hope to see you there!
